A strong field of 50 golfers set out to compete in a Single Stableford event on Saturday 23rd August under beautiful blue skies which were most welcome after recent wet and cold weather. The course is still very wet underfoot, so some fine weather was most welcome. The event was generously sponsored by members Ray Thorn and Terry Roser, and we thank them for their sponsorship. Visitors from the Gailes Golf Club and the SGA enjoyed the course but it was local Wes Smith who produced a putting masterclass to take home the top prize with 37 stableford points. Coming in a close second with 36 pints and on a countback was Zac Hendry over Jarrod Irwin.

Men’s pin shots went to Harry Day on 3, Darrell Boekholt on 12 and Zac Hendry on 17, all were excellent shots. Some great approaches were won by Brendon Barker (1/10) and Matt Waterworth (5/14 and 9/18).

Sandra Ellis had a great day out in the ladies competition by winning with and excellent 37 stableford points. Coming in second place with a very good 34 points was Deb Joyce. Sandra also collected the ladies pin shot on 12 and 17 while Lorraine Evans and Helen Jones claimed the approach shots on 2/11 and 7/16 respectively.

Next Saturday’s event is a 4BBB event sponsored by Michael Thompson. On Sunday is a 3 ball Ambrose event for the hugely popular Hello Yellow Day for which you will need to write your team names on the time sheet at the club.
