Crisps Coaches were the generous sponsors of the day’s 4BBB (teams of two recording their best score) golf game. The Club is very grateful to this inter-generational family business which has been such an asset to the Golf Club and indeed the Granite Belt. Travel to major centres is so much easier because of Crisp Coaches and their sponsored Golf Day was a pleasure to all participants.
It is regrettable that the Writer has to report some decidedly racist activity on the day. David Stuart, of Scottish descent and of the Royal Stuart line was severely disadvantaged when an English Poplar tree ‘popped’ up in front of his ball, mercilessly impeding his shot. Upon careful search amongst long grass this Writer found the ball resting sublimely beside a Scotch Thistle. Arr, we might be down but we’re not out. Stuart manfully, even pathetically, soldiered on! And we dear Reader must soldier on to the results.
It is a delight for this Writer to report a local miracle! Max Hunter and Eric Ree won the day’s play with an astonishing 47 Stableford points. This remarkable event is worthy of congratulations and celebration. Runner Up on 45 points were Matt Macarthur and Brendon Barker, with third place on a count-back to Alan Kerr and Tom Page with 44 points. This is all very good golf and congratulations to all.
Pin Shots and Nearest the Pin. Ladies: Deb Joyce, Nikki Waterworth and Lisa Stuart (x3). Men: Matt Waterworth (x2) Rod Paye (x2), Brendon Barker and Johnny be good Green.
Next week is the Monthly Medal and the sponsor is Tod Beckett’s PEST Control (I’m sure it will work wonders on those English Poplars).
Our Members Draw also went off to a very deserving Member. Congratulations.
So the Members Draw is now back to $50.
