What a pleasure it is to live on the Granite Belt! On days when the rest of the world is suffering heat stroke – we are in the cool highlands … playing golf! A rainy start turned into a rainy midday but fortunately cleared up to welcome a good field at the course. The Day’s play was sponsored by the Newley Family in memory of Laurie Newley who was a loyal member of the club, the green keeper, and good golfer. We thank the Newley family for their generosity and for continuing this family tradition.

The Ladies Results. Congratulations to Mandy Benussi on a very healthy stableford score of 39 points. Well done to runner up Deb Joyce. Run downs to Neta Thouard, Helen Jones, Lisa Stuart and Nikki Waterworth. Pin Shot prizes to Neta Thouard by two! Lisa Stuart, and Nikki Waterworth.

Men’s Results. A big congratulations to Mr Maxwell Big-hit Hunter. Max had such a sterling game for the first 16 holes … and then, realising he had a winning score … choked. But the person who was also in a winning position, our own Matt Macarthur, also choked. If anyone is talking to Matt during the week, please don’t mention the 8th tee to him. At the end of the day both Max (43) and Matt (41) both played out of their skin. In Max’s acceptance speech he shared some very nice memories of Laurie and the Newley family. Run Downs went to Lochie Hendry, Ivan Juriss, Eric Ree, Michael O’Brien and Raymond Adams.
