Being first in with a low score proved successful last Saturday for Max Smith. Max usually plays with an early morning start time and posted a nett 66 for his round. Although everyone knew what score to beat, no one was able to do it leaving Max to pick up an easy win.

The event played was an individual stroke, the day sponsored by Matt and Nikki Waterworth. Always a popular day with the members, the event attracted a good field and appreciation to Matt and Nikki for the day.

Having decided on a winner, it was left to the field to determine minor placings. Club president, Len Leigh, put up his score for runner up with a nett 69. He had two even nines but each nine contained a couple of lapses which didn’t help his final score.

The run down for the men went to nett 72 and a ball to Mark McCosker (71), Reno Piovesan (71), David Burgess (72), Ian Harvey (72) and Mark Hendry (72).

The ladies event was won by, ever consistent lately, Neta Thouard with a nett 72. This makes it six out of seven recent starts that Neta has featured in the placings. Neta’s front nine ensured the win, a very steady 46 which was good enough to get her across the line. Fiona Kelly was another early morning player and her score of nett 75 wrapped up runner up for the ladies, although a countback was needed after Lisa Stuart also returned the same score. Lisa settled for a run down along with Tric Fittock with nett 77.

Play of the day was from Ian Harvey with an eagle at the 14th par 4. His tee shot put him good position to attack the green and he would have enjoyed watching his second shot drop into the hole. Well done, Ian!

Players are reminded of the Glen Aplin State School sponsored 2 ball ambrose on Sunday 21 February, already a good number of nominations in what will be a fun day. Tee off for this event with a shot gun start and be ready at 9.00am.

Next Saturday we play an individual stableford sponsored by Helloworld of Stanthorpe. With early morning players doing so well, there may be a few more inclined to have an a.m. start. Apart from that, tee off from 11.30 am and the time sheet is on the board.
