Weather conditions last Saturday did not favour golfers as the day was cold and the wind was up. Quite a few thinking the warmth of the clubhouse the best place to stay. However, play got underway with competition in a stableford event sponsored by club member, Madeline Jarman.
Angelo Maugeri was out in the first group and returned a score of 40 points for his round. Angelo had to wait for the field to finish before securing the win on the day. His front nine of 22 points set up the round, 18 points for the back nine as the temperature dropped. Keith Allen was best man, for the second week, taking runner up position on a countback after returning 37 points.
The ladies event was dominated by Nikki Waterworth after she returned a score of 43 points, 22 out and 21 back. Nikki also collected the ladies'
pin at 3 and the approach at 12. Lorraine Evans with 33 points was awarded runner up prize after sponsor for the day, Madeline, took herself out of the prize winning position after she returned 37 points.
Scott Constable collected the balls for the pin shot at 3 and the birdies nest at 4. Mick O'Brien held the pin at 12 and no one held the pin at 17, although a few players went through the green. Trish Fittock had best the best approach for the ladies at 17. Pro-pins were claimed by Len Leigh at 1/10, Angelo Maugeri at 5/14 and Rod Werner at 9/18.
In the run down for the men, a ball to Barry Hughes (37), Len Leigh (35), Lyle Bryant (35) and Rod Werner (35). Ladies run down to Madeline Jarman (37), Linda Kelly (31) and Margie Locke (31).
All players who finished the round are to be congratulated for their effort on such a trying day. However, the wood fire in the club house gave all a target to reach after finishing their round.
Next Saturday is a single stableford sponsored by Sinbad, aka Ian Pickering. Tee off from the usual time of 11.00 am with the time sheet posted at the clubhouse.
