Golfers enjoyed a change of format last Saturday, competing in a stroke event instead of the stableford format. Appreciation to the sponsors for the day, Stanthorpe Plaza Meats for their contribution to the medal event.
Leading the way for the men was Mark Hendry who returned best score of nett 69. Mark laid the platform in the front nine, carding a one under par for the outward trip. Back nine was very steady, enough for the vctory. Two stokes back was Brady Morant with a score of nett 71.Brady has been very steady of late and continues to lower his AGU handicap.
The best gross score of the day belonged to David Reeves with 74 for the round. Least putts on the day was from Trevor Ludlow who needed 24 putts to complete the round. Mark Baker, Rob Reeves and Trevor Ludlow featured in the run down.
The ladies’ medal event was won by Sandra Morris with a nett 72 for the day. Her score was three strokes clear of the field with Linda Kelly claiming runner up with nett 75.
Nikki Waterworth collected for best gross score of 94 on the day and Kay Webb showed her prowess on the greens needing only 29 putts for the round. Shaneen McLellan collected the ladies run down with nett 75.
Next weekend could see some more changes to the protocols of late and members should expect advice on these during the week. Meanwhile, it is still necessary to be booked in for a starting time as per usual and to observe the usual conditions.
