The second and final stroke round for the Foundation Cup was played last Saturday. With a number of players in contention after the first round. Michael Thompson claimed the win after he returned two rounds of nett 68. The ladies Cup winner was Nikki Waterworth with a nett 151 for the two rounds.
The day’s stroke event was sponsored by Australian Vinegar, club member Ian Henderson and we thank him for putting up the prizes for the day. Each player was presented with a complimentary Australian Vinegar golf ball which was used for the long drive contest at the first hole. This event was won by Michael Thompson for the men and Racheal Hendry for the ladies.
No surprise that Michael Thompson also collected first prize in the day’s stroke event with his nett 68. Michael McAuliffe also returned a nett 68 but the count back put Mike into runner up.
The ladies Cup winner was also the day’s stroke winner. Nikki Waterworth with nett 73 was two shots better than Margie Locke on nett 75 for runner up.
Keith Jones collected the pin shot at 3, Mike McAuliffe at 12 and Alex Vale at 17. No takers for the ladies at 3 but Nikki Waterworth had best approach at 12 and Racheal Hendry had best approach at 17. Pro-pins went to Alex Vale at 1/10, Mark McCosker at 5/14 and Scott Constable at 9/18.
In the run down, a ball was awarded to Keith Allen, Max Hunter, Stephen Kay, David Burgess, Helen Jones and Kay Webb.
Next Saturday is a single stableford and the re-run of the Breast Cancer Charity Day which was previously postponed because of inclement weather. Sponsored by the Stanthorpe branch of the Heritage Bank, funds raised on the day go directly to supporting the cause in the local area. The day will begin with a shotgun start at 11.45 am with registration by 11.20 am to allow time for the starter to allocate tee positions.
